  1. Thank You, John! Our Tribute To John Coltrane Arkadia Jazz 形式: CD. all of the artists on this album have benefited from John Coltrane's music and teaching. Wide in scope and deep in nature, Coltrane's influence remains alive more than 30 years after his /5(2).
  2. Pursuance: The Music of John Coltrane, Kenny Garrett, alto saxophone. Kenny Garrett is an excellent progressive jazz musician. On this tribute to Trane, Garrett exhibits the requisite chops, chromatic melodic movement, and wailing tone reminiscent of Coltrane's playing.

A later record by drummer Charly Antolini, and still a very tasty bit of MPS jazz – with a mix of styles that recalls his classic albums for the label, and a list of players that includes Dieter Reith on keyboards, Heinz Von Hermann on saxes, and Lee Harper on trumpet! There's a great Latin-y groover called "Senor Hoche", a nice fusion cut called "Like A Swimming Pool", and the drums-only.

  6. A tremendous tribute to the ever-evolving genius of jazz trumpeter Dave Douglas – and a super-expanded live set that puts Dave in the company of classic pl ayers like John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, or Dexter Gordon – whose extended live expressions never fail to hold our imagination! The 8CDs of material here were recorded over four nights.
  7. An overlooked performance by a quintet of avant jazz masters from the European scene at the start of the 70s – one that was recorded and issued only over in Japan, but which bristles with the energy of some of the best French and German avant albums of the time! The tracks are long, and relatively free – and feature this incredible lineup of John Surman on baritone, Albert Mangelsdorff on.
